ABOUT ASCCA ~
AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE COUNCILS OF CALIFORNIA
The Beginning
Founded in 1940 as IGO (Independent Garage Owners), the Automotive Service Councils of California is the largest independent automotive repair organization in California. With more than 800 members, our membership represent all areas of the automotive repair industry, including mechanical, auto body, supplier and educators in the automotive technology field…Celebrating over 75 years of service advocating our Core purpose: To elevate and unite automotive professionals and give them voice.
The Automotive Service Councils of California is now and always has been a strong advocate of the professionalization of the automotive repair industry, supporting its core purpose in all it does in that endeavor. We work closely with our State Senators and Assembly Members in initiating new laws and also work with the Bureau of Automotive Repair, the State of California's governing agency in charge of automotive repair facilities, for the benefit of the driving public.

How It All Started
Seeing a need for professionalism in the repair industry, ASCCA was formed in 1940 by a group of independent auto repair shop owners with a purpose we still are committed to today: To elevate and unite automotive professionals and give them voice.
We are a grassroots organization, member based and led, with over 800 independent shop members throughout the state, and significant partners in the industry. Local chapters are how our members get together to benefit our industry and themselves.
